An analysis of inter-regional migration in the Philippine for the period 1979 to 1980
    (1987-03) Aballo, Ruel M.; Moreno, Honorata A.
This paper delved into the analysis of inter-regional migration in the Philippines for the period 1970 to 1980. Analysis of the trends and patterns of inter-regional migration revealed that majority of Philippine migrants tended to move towards urban areas, especially towards the National Capital Region. It also revealed that Luzon migrants tended to move within Luzon only, Visayan migrants towards Luzon and Mindanao migrants within the Mindanao island only. This paper also attempted to quantify the factors which significantly influenced ipter-regiona1 migration in the Philip- pines. Using regional geographic, demographic and economic indicators, a multiple regression analysis was effected to identify the significant determinants of inter-regional migration. The results indicated that urbanization, population density, farm density and income differential were significant in instituting the trends and patterns of inter-regional mobility.
