    The effects of teenage pregnancy on neonatal mortality

    This paper aims to answer how adolescent fertility affects neonatal mortality. Previous researches have seen trends where adolescent mothers are less conscientious when it comes to taking care of their children. In line with past literature, the hypothesis presented in this research states that adolescent fertility brings about poorer health to their children. Most studies on this topic are conducted abroad. Adolescent fertility researches on countries like Brazil, Colombia and the Caribbean have been studied by different researchers. This paper would, however, concentrate on the local scene and condition using the Philippine DHS data. With the available figures, this study will use Logistic Regression (Logit) regression on cross sectional data and shall control for factors such as poverty and level of maternal education since it might affect how adolescent mothers take care of their children. The researchers have found that teenage mothers have a higher chance of losing their child during or after their pregnancy.
