Item Restricted Subjective social status and the determinants of Happiness in the Philippines(2011-04) Cabuloy, Loreine Michelle G.; Villanueva, Nicole Angela D.; Tecson, Gwendolyn R.This study focuses on the effect of social class on individual happiness, together with factors such as age, gender, marital status, religion, work hours, work status, educational attainment, and income. It uses the individual's self-evaluation of social status, and self- evaluation of happiness, as obtained thru the Social Weather Stations Survey in 2003. Results show that those of the upper social class are significantly happier than those of the lower social class. Also, factors have varying effects in magnitude and direction to happiness across different social classes. Educational achievement and employment were not significant in the happiness of the middle and lower social classes, which is a concern also addressed by the study.
