Item Restricted An inquiry to the health and economic impacts of smoking: a review of evidence(1993-03) Daffon, Basilia; Young, Genaline; Herrin, Alejandro N.This paper evaluates the methodologies and findings of previous studies on the health and economic impacts of cigarette smoking to the smoker, the non-smoker and society as a whole. The first section will focus on the risks brought about by smoking to the smoker through diseases such as lung cancer and cardiopulmonary disease and to the health of passive smokers. The second section will focus on the economic costs of smoking in both the local and foreign context. This study concludes that, indeed, the health and economic impacts exist and should be considered in the decision to smoke.
