    Union power; the effects of labor unions on employment and wage rates, a national amd regional analysis

    The roles and the efficacy of labor unions in addressing the needs of their constituents is a debatable proposition. Different studies in different countries have suggested various results. In the Philippines, where some of Asia's most vibrant and militant labor unions are found, the question still remains to be unanswered especially from the regional point of view. Moreover, previous studies regarding this subject did not extend the analysis to the role of Collective Bargaining Processes which is an essential factor in considering the degree and power of labor unions. This study has found that there are differences in the relationship between the levels of unionization and un/employment rate in the National Capital Region and for the Philippines as a whole. Other factors such as the Gross Domestic Product and inflation rates are also considered in this study.
