Item Restricted The effects of school inputs to Philippine elementary education: relevant or insignificant?(2009-10) Tuason, Kathleen Mae C.; Uy, Marie Kuh L.This study probed the significance of school inputs in the academic performance of public elementary school students in the Philippines. The authors examined cross sectional data of Quezon City Grade 6 Public Elementary Students. The academic performance of the students was measured through average National Achievement Test scores per school. Organized Least Squares method was used to obtain regression results for analysis. Consistent with most of the existing literature, school inputs and academic performance exhibited a weak relationship, with most of the school inputs variables being insignificant to the model. The authors recommend inclusion of variables on class shifts, number of hours spent in school, and lagged values of academic measures, expenditures, and school inputs to take into account their real long term effects on students' performance. It is also recommended that studies on rural areas be made in comparison with results from urban areas.
