Item Restricted An assessment of the implementation process of the Generics Act of 1988(1993-03-22) Bautista, Marie Dell L.; Gumagay, Hennie Fe O.; Herrin, Alejandro N.This paper examines the implementation process of the Generics Act of 1988. The paper determines whether the measures or mechanisms employed by the implementing agencies were adequate or effective to carry out and ensure the fulfillment of the policy's intention. To go about the evaluation, a criteria was made based upon the government actions. How far these mechanisms have thus achieved what they were supposed to do will be evaluated upon the criteria. Results of the surveys conducted by the Department of Health, the Bureau of Food and Drugs, and the Philippine Information Agency indicate the extent of the mechanisms' impact, and were hence used in the exploratory study as well as other relevant data in statistical yearbooks and reports. The study revealed that, although some mechanisms proved to be satisfactory, still others were inadequate to a certain degree. These inadequate mechanisms probably explains why the Generics Act has not been able to go much far since its full implementation. For the Act to work out, these measures need to.be strengthened and reinforced.
