Item Restricted How vulnerable are Philippine provinces to severe climatic events(2014-04) Cabillos, Justin Ann L.; Rapanan, Lara Loudine N.; Clarete, Ramon L.Based on several researches, Philippines is among the top countries that are vulnerable to climate change and extreme weather disturbances. Studies on vulnerability and its determinants gained popularity as the trend in climate change research shifted to a vulnerability-led approach. With the objective of ranking Philippine provinces" relative vulnerability, this paper sets out to determine the factors significantly affecting climate change. The zero-inflated Poisson regression model was used to determine the provinces which are most and least vulnerable to typhoons, based on exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity variables such as projected population, projected population density, coastal areas, location variables, human development index, internal revenue allotment, and total income. The results generally mirrored the expected outcome- exposure and sensitivity variables had a positive impact on vulnerability, while adaptive capacity variables had a negative impact.
