Across banking institutions, the lack of sound banking practices is a common problem especially with rural banks. This usually leads to inefficiencies and detachment from the banks' main objectives. In Cavite, the existence of many rural banks is a possible indication of satisfactory performance. The performance of these rural banks was examined by utilizing aggregate data for 1993 through 2002.
