Abstract
This study aims to analyze the relationship between the quality of electricity
supply from electric cooperatives and the price of electricity that households and firms pay. We use the 2011 Household Energy Consumption Survey, and the merged 2015 World Bank Enterprise Survey and 2013 National Electrification Administration franchise areas to document the relationship between quality of electricity supply and price of electricity. Using ordinary least square and logit regressions, the results show that the price of electricity being charged to the households is significantly associated with electricity supply problems while the electricity cost being incurred by the firms is not significantly associated with electricity supply problems. Households and firms are more likely to own a generator set when they experience electricity supply problems.
