Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine how housing tenure affects elementary school participation in Pasay City. Using census data of Pasay City, obtained from CBMS, the results show that relative to sharers and other things, including the other tenure categories, constant, owning a home and being an informal settler has a statistically insignificant effect, while renting decreases school participation. The existing sub-classifications among renters in the Philippines, may however offer a possible explanation.
