Abstract
The paper aimed to determine the different determinants that affect contraceptive choice in the Philippines. Using the data from the National Demographic and Health Survey, this paper looked at selected variables - distributed into three subgroups: the respondent's characteristics, her partner's characteristics, and the household's socio-environmental characteristics- that are expected to have an impact on the probability that a household will choose modem contraceptives over nonuse and traditional forms of contraceptives over nonuse. Results of the multinomial logistic regression revealed that education (of both wife and her husband), the status of employment, place of residence, religion, and the number of living children were found to be significant. These findings provide insights that could be useful for policy recommendation on population management.
