dc.description.abstractOver the years, our marine resources have been under stress brought about by both natural and human disturbances. As the population continues to grow, securing sustainable food and livelihood sources becomes increasingly crucial. Laws and municipal orders have established marine protected areas~MPAs) to ensure the sustainability of marine resources. The Visayan bioregion has the most number of MPAs in the country. A significant portion of the population from this region is directly employed in marine fisheries and related industries. Furthermore, marine fisheries provide affordable protein to poor families in this region. It is clear that the state of the marine ecosystems directly impacts the quality of life of the coastal communities. This (" study analyzes factors that explain differences in marine resources across MP As as indicated by fish levels. Fish level is an indicator of the quantity, quality and diversity of fish in our oceans. It reflects the health of the marine ecosystem and the potential income for fishers and their dependents.
