There are several factors that affect the Academic Performance of UP Students, one of which is the financial situation of the family. STS, or the Socialized Tuition System, communicates the Socio-Economic status and addresses the financial issue of a UP student. The objective of this paper is to determine the relationship between the Socialized Tuition System and the Academic Performance of UP Students. Also, studies show that the Socio Economic Status of a student greatly affects their advantage and motivation which directly moves the academic performance of a student. The researchers ran an OLS regression on seven variables to study the correlation of Academic Performance and STS, as follows. Genetic Factors (Age, Sex), Socio Economic Factors (STS, other Scholarships), Collegiate Factors (BA/BS Courses) and Pre-Collegiate Factors (UPG) on a sample of 2,199 students which were all deemed significant in the study. The findings revealed a non-linear relationship between the Academic Performance and STS. This is produced by the impact of the socioeconomic status of a student to their advantage and motivation, which greatly moves their academic performance. It is recommended by the researchers that future studies involving STS and Academic Performance must include interviews where the motivation of each student is assessed both quantitatively and qualitatively.
