Abstract
This study provides an updated analysis on the different elements affecting poverty using Philippine regional level data. It is of essence that we see which of these factors provide the most benefits in poverty reduction. This way, we may be able to efficiently implement projects that would have a large marginal effect in battling this problem that we have been contending with for the past decades. Using multiple linear regression analysis, we find that reducing population growth, infant mortality, and making income levels more equitable are the most effective solutions to reduce poverty in the country. Though our results only show little marginal benefits for land reform, its importance is still stressed taking into consideration concepts of equitability and efficiency in implementation.
