This research paper attempts to study the effects of the changes in exchange rates on the steel production of National Steel Corporation, and whether these effects are significant. It aims to find out the general trend of the response of steel production to devaluations through a regression analysis. Since NSC depends on imported inputs for their production, it was hypothesized that devaluations would result in a decrease in steel production. However, the results of the regression analysis showed a different scenario. It was concluded that fluctuations in the exchange rate, particularly a devaluation, did not have any significant effects on NSC's steel production. They showed a positive relationship between steel production, the dependent variable, and the exchange rate, an independent variable. This paper also included other factors that were considered to be of importance in the production decisions of NSC. The Gross Value of Construction and tariff rate variables were found out to have positive relationships with steel production, while the dummy variable, which represents any political or economic turmoil came out to have negative effects on the amount of steel that NSC is willing to produce.
