| dc.description.abstract | Health is a key indicator in the growth and development of countries. In measuring health, life expectancy rates have been used as a primary tool in analyzing and comparing the overall well-being of individuals among different countries. This study analyzes the different economic, social, and environmental determinants that may have an impact on the life expectancy of people in Asian countries. The Grossman theoretical model uses these determinants to assess the level of demand for health in the region. The variables included in this study were health expenditure, gross domestic product per capita, unemployment rate, food production index, urban population, and total number of people affected by natural disasters. The results obtained from the fixed model regressions indicate that economic variables contributed most significantly in influencing the life expectancy in Asia. The conclusions suggest that life expectancies could be increased through focusing on economic policies implemented by the government. | |
