| dc.description.abstract | Over the past decade, wide differences in regional development— which is evident in the per capita GRDP of the different regions—have persisted in the Philippines. This paper analyzes the different factors that determine the economic development of the different regions in terms of its Per Capita Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) over the time period 2000 to 2014. To do this, the researchers provided different regional characteristics and development indicators, and employed two econometric models for the empirical analysis—Fixed Effects and Ordinary Least Squares model. The study showed that there is a significant relationship between regional differences, fiscal decentralization, regional expenditures, and regional development. Some of the inconsistencies with the empirical results can be attributed to the limited data and estimation method used. | |
