Abstract
The article explains the effect of natural disasters to property crime rates in the Philippines. For this study, a two period pooled data of 49 provinces from 2006-2007 was used. Robust regression was used to cure for the heteroscedasticity issues present in this paper. With this, Filipinos in general are found to be cooperative during destructive and/or damaging occurrences as evidenced by an insignificant relationship between natural disasters and property crime rates. But then, focusing on disaster prone areas, Filipinos are proved to be otherwise, being more susceptible to criminal activities specifically to crimes against property.
