There has been a lot of criticisms on the 2007 tuition fee upward adjustment in the University of the Philippines, questioning its justification. This paper aims to answer the question whether there have been significant changes in the socio-economic composition of students after the tuition increase. Since the majority of the variables are binary, a logistic regression was used in three different equations. All three equations have the probability of enrollment as the binary dependent variable to be explained by such independent variables as gender, high school type, area of residence, and income category. The results regarding the effect of tuition fee adjustment on the socio-economic composition of student enrollments have possibly useful implications for education policy and further studies.
