dc.description.abstractThis paper is an attempt to investigate the importance of information technology (IT) in the quality of education in the country. The relationships between computers, as new instructional aid, and student academic achievements have been validated using educational production analysis. Results of several multiple regression models indicate a significant effect of traditional inputs (e.g. teachers and learning environment) on the learning output. The positive effect of good learning environment on the students learning validates the findings of other studies. However, the effects of teachers' quality on the students' academic achievements are inconclusive; which is attributed to the reliability of the proxies that had been used. The modem input-the computer technology has significance on the students' achievements tests scores. However, the results of the regressions are perverse; the computerization found to have negative effects on the students' academic performances. Despite the perverse results of the multiple regressions, computerization program for the education system must be continued with proper utilization of this resource. Computer utilization for administrative, teaching, and studying purposes must be monitored to ensure that the school equipments are used accordingly.
