Abstract
Organic Agriculture is now being practiced worldwide as an approach to a healthier way of living for the people and a means to prevent environmental degradation. This thesis analyzed the profitability of organic agriculture through a case study of organic and non-organic vegetable and rice farms in the province of Pangasinan. Results show that organic agriculture is profitable, and could very well compete with conventional agriculture in this aspect. The study also looked into the market condition of organic products in the province and the constraints that prevent farmers from adopting this agricultural system. There is a market for organic products waiting to be explored. Farmers are reluctant to go organic because they lack knowledge on its benefits and advantages. Government initiative is needed to promote organic agriculture and encourage farmers to adopt this agricultural system.
