Item Restricted Profitability of the copper industry ( a test on the pure theory of exhaustion)(1979-01) Distor, Elizabeth A.; Santos, TeodoroThe mineral industry is said to be possible of capital formation, such that they play a key role in the development of less developed countries like the Philippines. It is in this context that this paper aims to measure the profitability of the copper industry. The profitability of the industry will be measured according to the criterion posed by the "Pure theory of exhaustion".Item Restricted The copper industry: proposal for survival and stability(1982-10-07) Cruz, Lilybeth C.; Quaiachon, Dinah B.; Jurado, Gonzalo M.Item Restricted The role of the copper industry in the Philippine economic growth(1979-01) Gonzales, Sylvia L.; Santos, TeodoroItem Restricted The Philippine associated smelting and refining corporation (PASAR): a mechanism for the forward and backward integration of the Philippine copper industry(1983-01) Karasig, Norma TeoxonRealizing the need to boost the copper processing industry to directly effect the country's industrialization strategy, the Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corporation (PASAR) was established at Isabela, Leyte and become operational in April, 1983. Hence, a mechanism for the forward and backward integration of the copper processing industry has been created. Locally mined copper ores and copper concentrates need not depend on foreign smelters since PASAR is a steady market thereby conserving foreign exchange and accumulating savings on transport charges. The refined copper products of PASAR provide the much needed dollar income from exports and the necessary raw materials to expand the local nonferrous metalworking industry and the production of fertilizer for agriculture. In turn, the explosive multiplication of small and medium scall semi-fabricating and fabricating industries increases the demand for PASAR's production output. Forward and backward linkages result in the smooth flow of the local copper product flow, a vital ingredient in the accomplishment of the Philippine's agro-industrial policy towards economic growth and national development.Item Restricted The cost of the Philippine copper industry measurement and applications(1980-03) Lapuz, Roque Jr. F.; Sison, Luis G.; Tan, edita A.
