Service

Circulation Service refers to the Library’s book lending service. Borrowing privileges for currently-enrolled UP students, faculty, and staff are as follows:

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO BORROW BOOKS​

  1. Use Tuklas (tuklas.up.edu.ph) to confirm the book’s availability. The book’s circulation status must be ON-SHELF. 
  2. Write down the title, author/s, edition, date of publication, and call number of the book you intend to borrow on a slip of paper (call slip).
  3.  Proceed to the Circulation Section and give the call slip to the staff-on-duty.
  4.  Wait for the staff-on-duty to retrieve the book you intend to borrow.
  5.  Fill out the book card. Once done, hand it over to the staff-on-duty.
  6.  Get your book.

HOW TO BORROW A RESERVE BOOK (ROOM USE)

  1. Give author and title of book to staff at the Reserve Desk.
  2. Present ID and sign the book card. Write your name and student number legibly on book card.
  3.  Students may apply for “room use” reservation if so desired. However, reserve books placed on “hour reading” should be called for on the hours due.

Reserve Books for Overnight Use

  1. A student may reserve a book for overnight use provided reservation is still open.
  2. Reservation slips are available at the Control Desk which are numbered consecutively and issued on the first come, first serve basis.
  3.  Reservation in advance or by telephone is not accepted.
  4. Fill up reservation slip in ink giving complete information on the book/article being reserve for; write your name and student number legibly.
  5. Reserve a book/article for each course at a time. However, a student is allowed a maximum of 3 reserve materials for overnight use.
  6. Accomplished reservation slips should be submitted promptly approval. Students who day submitting their reservation slips may forfeit the number of their overnight reserve slip.
  7. Reservations are non-transferrable. Only the student who placed reservation for the book is allowed to draw it out.
  8. Approved reservations are retained at the Reserve Desk. Slips will closed reservations for the book is allowed to draw it out.
  9. All reserve books must be returned on or before 9:00 a.m, the following school day. Reserve books returned after 9:00 a.m. will be fined P1.00 for the first hour or a fraction thereof; P5.00 for each hours after the first; and P50.00 for each full day. The student is barred from borrowing reserve materials for the rest of the semester or summer for a succeeding offense.
  10. Reserve books are read within the reading room. Taking a reserve material for outside use without permit (an approved reservation) will subject the students to a fine of P50.00 and suspension of library privilege to borrow from the reserve collection for two weeks on second offense.
  11. Reserve books stamped Room Use Only cannot be borrowed for overnight, however, required chapters needed in the course are available for overnight use.
 
The following are not allowed and will automatically void your reservation:

1.   Reservation slips with incomplete data, e.g. name or student number, incorrect title or author of the book.

2.   Late submission of reservation slips.

3.   Reserve books not taken ten (10) minutes before closing time.
